Spiritual Fitness

As we go on with our daily lives, some of us create routines to exercise our physical and mental muscles. But less often do we include exercises to maintain our spiritual wellness. “Spiritual wellness in this context means belonging to something at large which provides you with a sense of direction through values and principles that you can live by.” Spirituality means different things to different people and thus there are many existing and emerging views on achieving spiritual wellness. One common interpretation is that it is all about finding the purpose of one’s life as Mark Twain famously said: “The two most important days in your life are the day you are born, and the day you find out why.” This could mean a belief in a faith, nation, family or oneself and this belief is the driver which aids us in navigating through the bumpy terrain that it is our life. While the means in which you achieve spiritual wellness will no doubt vary between individuals, below are several ideas to get you started on your journey

  • Yoga and Meditation

  • Practice prayers familiar to you

  • Being kind to neighbors

  • Aiding and supporting loved ones

  • Mentoring someone

  • Volunteering

Hope you enjoyed this read, and do let us know what spiritual exercises do you have in your routine?
